"There is an old expression that "growing
up is hard to do." Adolescence and young
adulthood are also very exciting times, when
there are more opportunities, choices, and
free time available to you. You don’t always
have someone watching over you or telling
you what to do. You can make your own
decisions. You can choose to do things that
feel right to you, like where to go, who to
hang out with, what to do after high school,
or even if and when you want to become
sexually active.
All of this can feel overwhelming to some
teens because there are so many choices to
make and a lot of different kinds of pressures.
This is especially true for teens with HIV, as
they have the concerns that all teenagers
have in addition to the HIV diagnosis to
contend with. Because these concerns are
different from those of other teens, we have
created a
booklet (.PDF 5.5MB) just for you. It is our hope
that the information that is provided here will
help you to make informed, intentional
decisions and will also provide you with
useful information about whom to talk to
or contact for additional information."
